Half Season Review – A look back at 25/26 so far…

☀️July saw City Cabs unveiled as our main strip sponsor ahead of our unbeaten pre-season friendly run against Ayr United, Clydebank and Hearts and impressive Premier Sports Cup wins over Queen’s Park and Brechin City.

🏟️August kicked-off the SPFL 2 campaign with an opening day away 1-3 victory over newly promoted East Kilbride.  It was a jam-packed month with no fewer than 7 games, including our second trip to Cove of the season and Mark Stowe scoring in 5 consecutive outings.

🍂September opened with an emphatic KDM Evolution Trophy win over Hibernian B.  Marc McNulty’s brace helped bring the curtain down on another busy month with a 2-3 win at Elgin.  One of the key architects of our pyramid promotion journey, Blair Henderson, departed the club having scored a whopping 106 goals in only 190 appearances.

🎃October offered mixed fortunes on the pitch however an inaugural win on the road against Dumbarton at the fourth attempt on league duty earned three valuable points followed by a super Scottish Gas Scottish Cup comeback victory over East Kilbride.

❄️November had a feeling of déjà vu to begin with as we met EK seven days after our cup clash with the outcome another 2-1 win.  The passageway to the next round of the KDM Evolution Trophy was cemented following a 5-2 comeback against Aberdeen B.  The month concluded with a return to the revamped New Dundas Park with Keiran Watson & Mark Stowe scoring to beat Bonnyrigg to set up a Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 4^th round tie against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

🎄December brought draws on the road against Annan and Stirling Albion before Ayrton Sonkur’s winner v Elgin City delighted the home crowd at the Vanloq Community Stadium.  At the third time of asking, our KDM tie against Montrose took place at neutral Balmoral Stadium with one of the youngest Spartans sides taking on the League 1 side, narrowly losing out 2-1.  The year ended with an Edinburgh Derby victory, with Mark Stowe’s hat-trick doing the damage at Meadowbank to round off 2025 with Douglas Samuel’s Spartans top of SPFL 2.
