Scottish Cup Draw: Spartans travel to Queen’s Park

25 October 2026

The Spartans have been drawn away to Championship side Queen’s Park in Round 3 of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup.

This will be the third time the two clubs will have met in the tournament.  First time was in January 2006 when the sides met at the same stage.

Queen’s Park took the lead at City Park through Alan Trouten after just six minutes however Bob Mitchell brought Spartans level just before the interval.

Defender Jonny Seeley put Spartans ahead shortly after the break before Donal Henretty put further light between the sides.  David Weatherston netted for the Spiders with 20 minutes left however the then Non-League outfit were to hang on to set up a 4th round clash against St Mirren.

Thirteen years later, the sides were to meet in the prestigious competition, with a clash in October 2019.  Alfredo Agyeman & David Galt were on target for the visitors to Ainslie Park that afternoon.

There have been two other meetings, both in the League Cup.  Jamie Dishington scoring Spartans goal in a 2-1 loss at Hampden Stadium in July 2018 whilst Bailey Dall and Cammy Russell were on target when the sides last locked horns in July 2025 in 2-1 victory at home.

So, the tale of the tape reads two wins each.  Something’s gotta give come full time on Saturday November 28th.
