SPFL 2: Spartans look to bounce back at Borough Briggs

25 September 2025

The Spartans take to the road again on Saturday as they get back to SPFL 2 business with a trip to Borough Briggs where they face Elgin City.

Douglas Samuel’s side will be looking to bounce back at the first time of asking following last week’s disappointment against Stirling Albion however they do so whilst remaining at the top of the pile after just seven games completed in a SPFL 2 season that is set to have more rises and falls amongst its competitors than a Snakes and Ladders board.

Midweek’s win against Dundee United B saw James Craigen reach his 100th appearance for the Club, a magnificent milestone, topped off by the victory that sets the side on track for qualifying with two ties to go.

Whilst the hosts may find themselves going into the game on Saturday in unfamiliar territory of 7th place in the table, they welcome The Spartans no doubt boosted by the late point earned at Stranraer last week in a rather unenviable 540-mile round-trip journey.

Kane Hester’s profile at the Moray club has undoubtedly been boosted by what appears a frequent social media takeover with some decent finishes, a feature no doubt the Spartans defence will be tuned into come 3pm.

Spartans supporters making the trip north can find the very informative guide put together by our hosts.  https://issuu.com/elgincityfc/docs/match_day_guide_-_elgin_city_v_the_spartans_-_satu
