KDM Evolution Trophy: Spartans welcome Blue Toon back to the Vanloq

26 August 2025

Whilst Chappell Roan may be bringing her Pink Pony Club to Edinburgh on Tuesday night, just a few miles away at the Pilton Fitba Club, The Spartans are back in action at the Vanloq Community Stadium this evening when they take on Peterhead in the second round of KDM Evolution Trophy group fixtures.

With a busy league and cup schedule kicking off the season, tonight’s clash offers both camps the opportunity to explore the depth of their respective squads and changes from Saturday’s XIs likely to feature.

Peterhead make the journey down the road on the back of a decent 3-1 win at home over Spartans previous opponents in this competition, Cove Rangers.

Our opponents of course were promoted to League One at the end of last term, curtailing what had been quite the head-to-head between the sides who met no fewer than 11 times in two seasons following Spartans achieving League 2 status in 2023-24.

The tale of the tape so far sees Spartans with 6 wins, Peterhead with three and a brace of draws in the process too.

Last time out in North Edinburgh, Mark Stowe was to be the winner when the sides met in January.  With the striker’s impressive form so far this season, the home support would welcome a similar outcome.   Meanwhile, with Blair Henderson and Cammy Russell having netted six and five times each against the Blue Toon, there’s certainly scope for goals in a Spartans side that have only failed to score in the eleven games between the sides once.

Kick-off 7.45pm.  This is a Non-Season Ticket fixture.
