Celebrating success: 2024-25 Spartans Player of the Year Awards

28 April 2025

Ayrton Sonkur claimed a memorable hat-trick as he picked up the Coaches Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards at the recent ceremony involved both our Men’s and Women’s senior sides.

The talismanic defender, in his second season at the club, impressed coaches, peers and fans alike to collect the trio of trophies from event sponsor JB Contracts Ltd.

Blair Henderson was the successful recipient of the Goal of the Season award following a keenly contested vote.  His looping header against top flight side Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup arguably one of the most memorable goals scored during the club’s 74 year history.

The weekly bottles of Malt & Hops Bar Man of the Match offerings were tallied up to give an overall season winner, with Jamie Dishington coming out on top with a season of consistency for Calum and the lads.

Spartans Women’s striker Hannah Jordan has had an impressive season so far.  Having already scooped the November’s SWPL Player of the Month award, Hannah’s fireplace will be a lot busier after being crowned Coaches’ Player of the Year and the ultimate reward of being recognised by her fellow players as their Player of the Year.

There was further good news for the Spartans striker after she was shortlisted for the SWPL Young Player of the Season on Monday afternoon.

Zara Andrews picked up the award for Goal of the Season – a fantastic effort against Montrose – whilst Captain Robyn McCafferty was the recipient of the Supporters’ Player of the Season.

With The Spartans family already playing in sustainable kit, it was perhaps fitting that this season the club continued to boast its environmental credentials by presenting our winners with their fantastic eco-friendly awards made by East Lothian firm Oak & Black.
