Two second half goals were enough to earn The Spartans all three points against Forfar in a game that came to life moments into a second half at a sunny Station Park.
Douglas Samuel’s men had clocked up some 500 miles in a matter of days with back-to-back road trips on SPFL 2 duty and were keen to build on their impressive recent turn of fortune that had sent them on a five-match unbeaten run going into the game.
With the season entering its business end, victory was sought after by both clubs to aid their respective challenges at different ends of the table.
Spartans took the game to the home side from the off with a variety of attempts to bombard the box with crosses and corners however the Forfar rear guard were equal to the task.
Kevin Waugh came closest to breaking the deadlock when he sent a header wide at the back post seven minutes in and that was arguably the chance of a half that Kieran Watson was unable to see out after succumbing to an injury ten minutes before the break.

Whatever was said in the visiting sheds during the interval certainly had the desired effect as just 23 seconds later, Spartans took the lead.
After a launch up the park by the Forfar defence, it was returned with interest to find Jamie Dishington who knocked the ball into path of Hamish Ritchie. The Spartans man who has returned from injury to find a rich vein of form latched on the pass and with some work still to do, he composed himself before drilling low beyond McCallum into the net.
Ritchie was almost the architect for the second when he worked hard to squeeze a low cross-cum-shot across the face of the goal but Morrison done just about enough to take the ball off the toes of Dishington sliding in boot.
Spartans made a double swap, introducing Brogan Walls & Lewis Hunter as they traded places with James Craigen and Liam Morgan.
Further light was put between the sides with a second goal in the 74th minute. Jamie Dishington dipped the pockets of the dilly-dallying defender to feed Brogan Walls inside the box and as the Spartans man went to pull the proverbial trigger, a challenge from Alex Ferguson unfortunately saw the ball directed into his own net with some power.
It was further reward for the band of Spartans supporters inside the main stand and terracing for their efforts in making a brace of bumper trips in a short turnaround.
A late change added another appearance to the tally for Mark Stowe with Man of the Match Hamish Ritchie offered a chance to enjoy the last of the low setting sunshine.
