SPFL 2: Spartans head to Stair Park for Stranraer showdown

1 February 2025

The Spartans travel to Stranraer on Saturday looking to add to their unbeaten start to 2025 and keep the pressure on the play-off pack as a result.

Douglas Samuel takes his team on the 260-mile round trip to Stair Park keen to avenge the defeat inflicted in the freezing North Edinburgh cold in December and will be boosted by last weekend’s dogged display that undone second top Peterhead at the Vanloq Community Stadium.

Form favours Spartans going into the game, with just one defeat in their last five, whilst the hosts have one win to show for their endeavours during the same period – a victory on their travels last Saturday at Forfar, offering further light between the two teams at, for the Stair Park faithful at least, the wrong end of the table.

Whilst a Spartans XI had a midweek run-out against Haddington to get match minutes into legs, Stranraer were in action at Bonnyrigg on Tuesday where interested neutrals inside New Dundas Park observed a win for the Rose.

Last five meetings (with thanks to Stranraer FC for compiling)
